We have many wonderful items to share in this issue. As you will see, FIABCI is playing a significant role and making history by working closely with the United Nations and taking an active role with implementing guidelines on how real estate is transacted throughout the world. This is has been extremely crucial during the recent economic challenges throughout the world. A recent Round Table meeting took place which launched the UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) *Policy Framework for Sustainable Real Estate Markets* as a pilot program in the Ukraine. The conclusions of the Round Table provided the foundation and guidance for FIABCI to play a significant role in a working group, which will be established as a follow-up to this event, to work with the Government of Ukraine on the development of specific policy reforms in Ukraine’s real estate sector. Please read about this wonderful initiative and the UNECE Policy Framework which provides guidelines on how real estate should be conducted throughout the world. The above documentation is also translated in Russian. We had an extremely successful FIABCI World Congress in Bali last month with over 1,400 delegates in attendance which will make this Congress one of the highest attended Congress’ in FIABCI’s 60 year history. In case you were not able to attend this year, highlights during the program included the election of a new World President-Elect Alexander Romaneko from Russia; FIABCI officially added new Chapters in Ghana and Egypt and a New Principal Member, “The Arab Union for Real Estate Development,” was approved to become part of FIABCI’s International Federation. Save the Date: Please check our calendar of events and “Save the Dates” for Upcoming FIABCI meetings which have been scheduled in advance. We have fantastic venues for out FIABCI Business Meetings in Belgium and our upcoming World Congress. On a sad note, we have lost a very close and special FIABCI family member, Vickie Greig, wife of FIABCI World President John Greig. We extend out condolences to the Greig family and want them to know that FIABCI’s thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time. The GHF (Global Housing Foundation) has some great news with the appointment of Sharon Young as the new President and Robyn Frank, daughter of Renee Frank, as Director on the International Board. The GHF is a wonderful organization which was launched in 1999 when its founder, René Frank, took up a challenge from the United Nations Habitat on Human Settlements (UNCHS) as to why the private real estate industry did not do more to help solve housing crises around the world.
